I can say, without a doubt, say that Lucero is the band I have seen live the most (This doesn’t count my stints on the Vans Warped Tour because that feels like cheating). I was introduced to Lucero through Prop’s BMX Video Magazine. The first album I listened too was Tennessee and that made me instantly hooked. I’ve always enjoyed their live shows so it’s a no brainer to get see them when they are close by.

This show was at The Hall River Ballroom in quaint Saxapahaw, NC. This is one of my favorite venues. The building, built in 1908, use to be a dye house where white cotton yarn was dipped and colored. It has a cool vibe to it and the bands always sound good.

Speaking of bands sounding good, Lucero was sounding great for this show. They played the songs that I love, and a few I'll admit I usually skip. Didn't matter one bit. It’s not always about the songs themselves. I was there for those gritty, soulful tunes and that energy you feel all the way down in your bones. I did get to hear some of my favorites like “That Much Further West”, “I’ll Just Fall” and “Tears Don’t Matter Much”.

One of the best things about Lucero is how intimate their shows feel. It’s like they are playing just for you but there also happens to be a lot of strangers hanging out.  If you get a chance to see one of their shows then make it happen. You’ll be a fan for life.
