Scott's Favorite Records #1

Welcome to the first installment of Scott’s Favorite Records. Here we have a first pressing Negative Approach Tied Down LP. I bought this directly from @realjohnbrannon at a Laughing Hyenas show in Kalamazoo in the mid 90s.

Green poster titled NEGATIVE APPROACH with black-and-white scene of men tying down a woman on railroad tracks; text TIED DOWN.

I first heard NA on a BMX trip to Canada with Mike Carruth in 1985 when one of the crew, Rich Barone, demanded that his NA tape be played almost non-stop as he barked along, for almost the entire trip there (and back).

We had a very interesting/nerve wracking encounter at the border too, but that’s a story for another time. In fact, I have a 2026 Canadian border story, but it’s still a little too fresh in my mind to retell now. Any rate, Tied Down is a seminal hardcore album and one of my (and Rich Barone’s) favorites. More to come as my vinyl collection sees more action daily… #recordcollectorsarepretentiousassholes
