Scott's Favorite Record #3

Scott’s favorite records #3. I’ve definitely told a few people that this is the first record I ever bought, but I realized this isn’t true.

I talked my mom into letting me order a 2-record Elvis Greatest Hits album from a TV commercial when I was really young. I don’t have that any more, but this Gary Numan record is awesome. I remember hearing the hit song “Cars” on the radio, specifically when my dad and I took a springbreak trip to Washington, DC, when I was 15. I know I was 15 because I had my learner’s permit and he had me drive a bunch. Full white-knuckle through Virginia in our Subaru wagon.
This record was so weird to me when I first got it—I didn’t really get it, but I love it now. Kalamazoo Industrial/Metal heavyweights Thought Industry did a cover of the song “Metal” in the 90s that was really cool. My friend Lachlan (and his parents) saw Gary Numan play a few weeks back and he said it was a great show.
This copy of Pleasure Principle is a first US Pressing, purchased from a Kalamazoo K-Mart in 1980. #garynuman #piecesofvinyl
